undefined sketch?

undefined sketch?

(OP)
Hi all,
quick one.
I have a collegue who showed me a somple circular extrusion from a defined plane (top) whch appears skewed in the drawing. The circle sketch remains undefined even though it is centered on the origin and has a diameter. No relations other than being fixed are showing and this sketch cant be dragged. A front view shows a double edge(skew). Any thoughts?

RE: undefined sketch?

Can you post the file?

I'll get it and post it shortly. Thanks

RE: undefined sketch?

It's not centered on the origin. Put a vertical relationship between the circle and the origin and all will be good.

RE: undefined sketch?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say it appears skewed in the drawing.  The sketch is fully defined with the fixed relation.  However, if you delete the fixed relation you can make the center of the circle coincident with the origin if you like.  Other than that everything looks OK.

Thats what is funny. I can open it on my machine, relate it to the origin and the sketch fully defines. On my colleague's, the only option to fully define the sketch is to fix it. The sketch remains blue after placing the center to the origin, no relational options are available. There has to be a switch setting fifference i am overlooking.

RE: undefined sketch?

I was looking at the wrong feature, my bad.

RE: undefined sketch?

swforge ... try copying your settings (Copy Settings Wizard) to your colleagues PC.

RE: undefined sketch?

It's most likely that your view was created as current view instead of an assigned view like front  or Top orientation. Select the skewed view in the drawing and make sure it's set to one of the 6 orthogonal views. I just checked this out and if a view was created using current view option it's not possible to change it over to a default view. Try creating a new view and select one of the 7 view icons in the property manager.
