could someone pls point out how to set a different tool axis(non-normal) in m ill roughing operations. I would be really, really stoked if it would be revealed.
In planar ops it is quite simple. I don't know why it isn't the same, but it aint.
I have tried using sub-mcs, but haven't figured out a combo of main, local and rcs that works.

RE: mill_contour cavity_mill_1 - 5ax index

It is the same. You simply choose a different tool axis.

If the dialog box isn't showing the "tool axis" command, you will need to turn it on.

I personaly had this very same issue...

Here's what you do...
1. make your cavity mill operation
2. expand the options tab
3. choose "other options"
4. choose "customize dialog"
5. in the bottom window, labeled "available items", scroll down and find "tool axis".
6. pick "tool axis" and press the big green "up" arrow to add it to the dialog.
7. press OK twice and you're good to go. Now you have a tool axis option at the very top of the dialog.

I do not have the ability to modify the dialog box anymore. All I get in other parameters is "verify predrill points" and "analysis tools"
I remember w/nx2, and probably 3 that it was available, but w/5 it disappeared. Perhaps there is another thing that needs to be enabled/disabled to allow the other options that kind of control.

It's funny, in the on context doc for the other options customize dialog is shown. when I go to it to select it it isn't there.

I feel so buggered by NX

Can the esteemed product evangelist not even come up with an answer?

Thanks Jaydenn,

this is also not an option for me. Perhaps there is another option box that is not checked somewhere that enables this?

I was soo happy when I saw this second solution, I was slowly disappointed as I clicked away however - I almost became sick. It is not there!

Attached is a picture of what my menu is.

My role is set to advanced w/full menus

i FINALLY GOT IT

RT CLICK ON TOOLBARS, GO TO CUSTOMIZE, THEN TOOL , OPTIONS...

DRAG IT UP TO A TOOLBAR, THEN IT'S USABLE.

CLICK ON AN OPERATION THAT HAS BEEN STARTED AND ADD THE DESIRED ELEMENT TO THE DIALOG IN THAT OPERATION

THANKS
