Text applied to part does not show up in assembly

Text applied to part does not show up in assembly

Text applied to part does not show up in assembly

(OP)
I have modeled a bolt on which I applied text to the head to signify the necessary head marking.  I then took this part and put it into an assembly of the bolt and nut combination.  When I did this the text that I had applied to the head disappeared.  Does anybody know what I need to do in order for it to be visible in the assembly?

Thanks in advance,

lurks

By the way, I am using NX5.

Is the text view dependent?

If the text is just curves, try adding them to your reference set that you are using in the assembly.

RE: Text applied to part does not show up in assembly

When you say 'text', do you mean a NOTE, like in drafting annotation, or Text as Curves, the so-called 'geometric text'?

If it's a NOTE there may be a couple of issues since notes (or any drafting annotation) are created view-dependent and so unless you first convert the text to be model-dependent you will only be able to see it in the view in which it was created.

Now if you're talking about Text as Curves ('geometric text') you won't have any view-dependent problems, but you will need to go into...

Format -> Reference Sets...

...and select your Model Reference Set and explicitly add the Text objects (actually you'll need to also do this if you were using a NOTE converted to model-dependent since it too will need to be part of the Model Reference Set before it can be seen at the Assembly level).

This text was created as curves, and formatting the reference sets worked perfectly.  Thank you all.
