What is SQESH?

What is SQESH?

(OP)
I am applying for a position where one of the responsibilities is to monior compliance with their SQESH policies. Does anyone know what this is? I have not come across the term before.

RE: What is SQESH?

Safety Quality Environmental Safety & Health
There, that wasn't too hard.... Google term: SQESH. Appears everywhere in job ads and is even spelled out on search page two..

RE: What is SQESH?

I did google it and all I got was a list of jobs that required sqesh but not a description.

Anyway, I have never heard of it in construction, must be an industrial thing.

Thanks for the help.

RE: What is SQESH?

Oh and why is safety mentioned twice?

RE: What is SQESH?

I thought it was something like SMERSH.

RE: What is SQESH?

It exists on virtually every construction project, it may be used with different acronyms, in fact one just crossed my desk today - a QHES audit schedule.  I've also seen it QSHE, QHES&S.  It's just knowing the policies they have regarding quality, safety, environmental, and the other "S" may be security?

csd72,
When you go back for your next interview, ask them what it means.  It may be something THEY made up and it is a test for you to see if you are smart enough to know that you do not know.

Then, please let us know what they said.

RE: What is SQESH?

From page 2 of the google search and about item 7 on the page:

RE: What is SQESH?

You will see several acronyms that include Health, Environmenal and Safety in each possible sequence.  OK security fits too and some might use access control.  Throwing quality into the acronym is an added wrinkle.

RE: What is SQESH?

I appreciate csd72's problem.
SQESH does indeed bring up lots of job ads (quite good most of them) in whcih SQESH features.

But to find a proper definition or origin is something else.
Does one suppose SQESH is a recent HR invention which is spreading through the recruitment community like swine flu?
What happened to the separate QA jobs and HS jobs?
How did they become integrated and does one assume that are supposedly integrated across all disciplines?

Google/alltheweb/answers/business.com/yahoo etc search engines don't much help beyond illustration of its widespread use in across a range of diverse job adverts.
They don't help us find a benchmark or description or definition that is of any real use.

I guess I'll give up trying to be a smart-arse.

jmw,

Yes that was the exact issue I had.

Wow, that job you brought up is in my home town, maybe I should call them up and ask.
