How do I define node sets for spring interactions?

How do I define node sets for spring interactions?

(OP)
Hi,
Can't seem to figure out how to connect two parts with springs at the edge nodes of each part.  When I try to create the spring/dashpot it asks me to select the first point.  I was thinking that i could somehow create node sets on the edges of each part and select them in order to group the process of selecting the first and second points.  Although, I can't figure out how to even create a node set.  The sets always want to be created in the "geometry" format. Which don't show up as "eligible sets" when I try to select the first point.  Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Evan
