Sheetmetal from Solid (NX6)

Sheetmetal from Solid (NX6)

Sheetmetal from Solid (NX6)

(OP)
NX6.0.2 MP2

In the documentation, it says "Corner Relief is not available."  Yet, the dialogue for the Sheetmetal from Solid feature clearly has an option for Corner Relief:

The problem is, no corner relief seems to be created, at least if one selects "Round". Is this an overlooked piece of code?

RE: Sheetmetal from Solid (NX6)

I'm sorry for not responding sooner to this issue.

You are correct, there is no provision to create what would normally be expected as normal Corner Relief, therefore the documentation IS correct.  However, the dialog is also correct in that the option to include 'Relief' is NOT corner relief (after all, it just says 'Relief' and nothing else).  What this relief covers is for inset flanges as shown in the image below:

Now as to how you will have to finish the corners, at least for now, so that they have the proper appearance, you will need to take a couple of extra steps.  Starting with NX 6.0 the easiest solution is use the Synchronous Modeling function, Replace Face.

Attached is the model as seen above, but with the 3 added Replace Face features suppressed so that you can see what the original 'Sheet Metal from Solid' model looked like before I applied those last features.  To get a finished model, just unsuppress those 3 features.
