I have a model with a blend rad where I need to generate a control curve along its centreline is there anyway of doing it automaticaly. Usually I can manage with creating sections thru the geometry, but doing it this way doesnt necessarilly give me exact results. Any advise much appreciated.
 Using NX6.
 many thanks

RE: generate spline on centre of rad

Attached is an NX Open program (change the file extension from .zipper to .zip before attempting to extract the files) which will create a so-called 'centerline' curve from a blend face.  Note that it works with one face at a time and thus may require the the if you wish a single curve that the individual results will need to be combined using a function like 'Join Curve'.

Anyway, give it a try and see if you get the results that you desire.

Hello John
Ive managed to run the file in NX, unfortunatly the part was imported as parasolid and it doesnt seem to recognise the faces as blends!
Im sure this file will prove useful in the future.
Thanks again
Dennis

RE: generate spline on centre of rad

If you have a constant radius which you know a law extension surface normal to the face for a distance equal to the radius value might give a satisfactory result.
