CATHODIC PROTECTION - PIN BRIZING

CATHODIC PROTECTION - PIN BRIZING

CATHODIC PROTECTION - PIN BRIZING

Dear all,

Can PIN BRAZING be made on the CAST IRON or DUCTILE IRON pipe? If so, what kind of pin brazing materials can be used.

Also if pin brizing can be used for Stainless Steel pipeline?

As there is Zinc in the stud materil (Stud -BRASS), would have effect on the Stainless Steel.

RE: CATHODIC PROTECTION - PIN BRIZING

Yes, pin brazing can be used on cast iron pipes.  It is not recommended on stainless steel pipes owing to possible liquid metal embrittlement issues.

Steve,

Thanks for your reply.

The possible liquid metal embrittlement , comes from the Zinc in the Brass? or other metal ?

RE: CATHODIC PROTECTION - PIN BRIZING

I believe the aversion stems from the unknown effects that the brazing filler material might have.
