AASHTO LRFD Steel Girder Shear Design

AASHTO LRFD Steel Girder Shear Design

AASHTO LRFD Steel Girder Shear Design

(OP)
The AASHTO LRFD Specifications provide for shear capacity in the "interior" and "end" panels of girder webs.

My question is:

What is the definition of the "end" panel.  I assume it is a function of the web depth "D".

Thanks.

RE: AASHTO LRFD Steel Girder Shear Design

The end panel is the first panel away from the support (at piers and abutments), when we say panel we mean the area bounded by the top and bottom flanges of the girder and two stiffeners (one usually direct above the centerline of the support and the first one thereafter).
