Excitation Voltage for synchronous motor

Excitation Voltage for synchronous motor

Excitation Voltage for synchronous motor

(OP)
Dear All,
Appreciate your idea to solve a problem in my workplace regarding excitation voltage to synchronous motor.
In my area i have 3 synchronous motor with rating 4.2MW each to drive a compressor namely A, B and C. Basically the motor is ABB motor and the 2 out of 3 motor will be running at same time to deliver enough hidrogen to other unit.  The compressor is used to compress hidrogen until 3rd stage of the compressor.
The problem is, 2 out of 3 motor having a problem on excitation voltage where this month it already trip for 3 time for motor B due to field loss, means that loss of excitation. However after reset the indication the motor can running back as normal. For the 1st time trip after reset the trip signal, the motor can run as usual until  2 weeks later it wa strip again and this time it trip twice is a same day. First at 1430hrs and 2nd at 1945hrs. We already perform a total check on exciter panel for instance check the incoming voltage, transformer, fuse, loop check, and everything is ok. We also calibrate the level voltage relay is was funtinoning ok during testing. We are suspecting a few root cause:
1) Voltage level relay intermittent
2) Voltage level relay sudden lost of voltage from field motor
3) Load from the compressor to heavy cause the voltage level relay cannot hold the contact.
4) Power factor controller intermittent and sent signal to voltage level relay and trip the motor.

However i cannot conclude that where exactly the root cause came from.
Besides that, what are the factor that can cause the motor sudden lost of excitation?

I hope that expert out there  can advice me, what can i do to further check the and come out with concrete solution and precise mitigation plan to solve this issue.

thank you in advanced
regards,
azmazz
