Electronic Gauge Internals

Electronic Gauge Internals

Electronic Gauge Internals

(OP)
Does anyone know where I might be able to find the internals for an electric dial gauge such as a automotive tachometer?

I am in need of a ready to use module that can be mounted on a PCB and take a 0-5vdc input.

RE: Electronic Gauge Internals

do you mean the mechanical parts or the electronics? The mechanical part is just a stepper motor, the electronics are mostly concerned with driving the motor, the signal processing is banal in the extreme (Filter then F to V).

I may be wrong but I was assuming that the electro-mechanical action was some kind of coil and spring assembly. A stepper motor would work as well. I have a microcontroller to drive it so I can configure any control I need.

and would anyone know where to get a small cheap stepper motor suitable to use for a small gauge 2 inches in dia or so.

The wrecking yard is an electronic land of wonder for gizmos of all sorts!
