Does anyone know how to make a circuit using relays and momentary pushbuttons that will act as a silence feature for a buzzer. In other words I want a float to trigger a buzzer but allow a user to silence the buzzer by pushing a momentary pushbutton. I do not want the buzzer to reactivate until the signal goes low and then high again.

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to bring it up the next time the dean of my college asks for my advice about whether or not the sequential logic course i did take should be offered using mechanical relays and not digital logic devices.

RE: Silence button

OK, so you know how to make a JK flip-flop.

All you need to do is to figure out how to make an AND or an OR gate, and an inverter, using relays.

RE: Silence button

From the power line to the buzzer, have a normally open push button go to the relay coil.  A normally open set of contacts of the relay will parallel that push button.  That holds the relay on after the silence button pressed. A normally closed set of contacts interrupts the line going to the buzzer.  When alarm condition is removed power to the relay is gone, the relay resets itself.
