Hi,

What are the best 5 axis machines on the market these days?

Thanks for any input.

RE: 5 axis machine

Turning only?  Turning + grinding?  Front only or front & back working capability?

RE: 5 axis machine

It also depends on what you are machining.  Check out FIDIA at

define size and shape, material, cutting torque needed of part.  Five-axis can be done in two ways; tilting the part or tilting the tool; depends on part characteristics. Fidia and others tilt the head/tool for larger more cumbersome workpieces. Other machine like DMG, have tilt tables.

RE: 5 axis machine

When you can tilt the tool, the workpiece is usually in a stationary position.  In other words, the tool revolves around the part.  This has given me the ability to have a more accurate and better surface finish.
