NX5.0 licensing

NX5.0 licensing

Hi Guys

I had a problem, with the UGS licensing.
So i want to reinstall the UGSlicense.
But the problem now is I can't install/repair or remove UGSLicensing. Has anyone had this problem before?
I've un-installed NX5. , but still can't get rid of UGSLicensing.

Greetz,
and thanks in advance.
Tom

RE: NX5.0 licensing

hey,

thanks for your answer,
but it doesn't work.

the uninstaller (@"Control Panel", "programs")
starts, but then a error apears and says "Repair will not work. You must remove and reinstall".

The problem is, I want exactly what it says.

Hope there is a answer.

Greetz, Tom

RE: NX5.0 licensing

I'm assuming you're running windows

Maybe check again under the Windows "Control Panel" using  "Add or Remove Programs". There are separate installed products for "UGSLicensing" and "UGS NX 5.0" you may only really have needed to uninstall the former.

hello,

I am running Vista.

But only what is left in "add or remove programs".
is UGSlicensing.

RE: NX5.0 licensing

Check that the ugslmd service is not running in the background. ie Control Panel-->Admin Tools-->Services--> UGS License Server (ugslmd)-->Stop service.
Now try to remove in add/remove progs

hallo,

I have looked at services,
but there is no UGSlicensing.
So i guess the service is stopped already.

RE: NX5.0 licensing

You can confirm this by typing net start in a command window. If the service is still running on the machine it will display.
If it's not displayed, I'm not sure why you cannot remove it.

I have tried it, but that doesn't work,
so I put it in a command bar.

There is nothing from UGS.
so there isn't a service left.

Sounds like you need to contact GTAC and let them help you with this problem.

RE: NX5.0 licensing

Hello there...

try this....remove any windows variables from UGS...stop all processes and than it's should be ok to remove it...

The problem is, you can't remove the licesing becouse it is still active in windows processes.

hey,

I checked at the processes and services,
but find nothing from UGS.

Greetz,

RE: NX5.0 licensing

Look for processes like lmgrd.exe or anything from Globetrotter/Macrovision/xxxxx(whatever their new name is).

hi,

There are no processes named like that.

RE: NX5.0 licensing

What was the problem with the licensing specifically after all it would seem that if you reinstall everything and the problem is that you just have to set the environment variables you may have been barking up the wrong tree.

To go any further with removing the last vestiges of something you've installed you'd have to look to delete any directories associated with the original install and then to make 100% sure hack the registry to remove all reference to the product. This latter move involves taking a risk for which I can't identify the gain so maybe we ought really to come back to your the problem and start again.

Apart from anything else if you've a legal license you should be able to call your local help desk. Licensing is a common problem and it would be rare that we here would be more or better equipped to assist you.
