Alternatives to 446 SS

Alternatives to 446 SS

(OP)
I'm looking for some magnetic stainless steel which could be used subsea (5000-15000ft) indefinitely. 430 for example is common but is worse with regard to seawater corrosion than 304.

I'm familiar with 446 which is a very high chromium flavor 400. I'm looking for others. Bonus points for a material I can get in a sheet metal form factor.

RE: Alternatives to 446 SS

Do you need to weld it?
Can you get by with thin sheet?
Look at the super-ferritics, S44660 and S44735.

i prefer thin sheet in fact 20 to 30 gauge would be idea. Welding is not necessary, simply cutout (laser or plasma), and a couple shallow bends. to make sort of a soap dish type shape.

RE: Alternatives to 446 SS

Then eth super-ferritics will be your best bet.  Call A-L.

Why do you need it to be magnetic? Any specific application?
