How sticky is my answer?
How sticky is my answer?
(OP)
SW2009.0.0
Top assemblies comprise >1500 parts, grouped into subassemblies.
For defensible reasons, some subassemblies got moved around on the server.
Now, on opening a top assembly, I get a dialog box:
"Unable to locate .... Would you like to find it yourself?"
to which I answer, sometimes yes, sometimes no, depending on what I'm trying to do... hundreds of times per assembly.
The dialog box carries a check box in the LL corner:
"Don't ask me again".
How sticky is my response to that? Does it mean,
"Don't ask me again while loading this model.", or,
"Don't ask me again .. ever." ??
Similarly for a dialog box about an internal ID mismatch, giving one the opportunity to browse for a replacement model, accept the mismatch, or 'cancel'.
How sticky is my response to "Don't ask.." ??

I wish the dialog box had a 'help' button to explain it better... or at all.
I also wish they would control the location of the Yes | No buttons within the dialog box. After a while you decide to just keep pressing the same button ... but if the pathname/filename string in the prompt changes length substantially, the dialog box itself changes shape, and the buttons move, so eventually you press the button you didn't want.

If the file mover is an IT person it may be necessary to anonymously move their bicycle to the opposite gender's bathroom, or their stash of mountain dew or jolt to a refrigerator on another floor to help demonstrate the concept of not frivolously fussing with other people's stuff.

[ You'd think the dialog box would at least tell you where to go to restore the behavior. ]
The files were moved by our most experienced SW user, since departed for other reasons.
[ I'm guessing that maybe he tried using SW Explorer, and got impatient. More than 11,000 files were moved. ]
Thanks, all.
