Problem Hiding Datum Planes

Problem Hiding Datum Planes

Problem Hiding Datum Planes

(OP)
First,  I tried to post this but it didn't go, so sorry for the double post if the other magically appears...

My problem is that I am no longer able to hide my primary datums with out affecting the associated drawing of the part or assembly.

Previously I would hide my automatic and user crated datums with the Display Datums button, and then hide the primary datums on the model tree.

Now when I do this my datums also disappear from the drawing views that I have placed them in.  For example, I will have to reshow primary datum A in the drawing file if I hide datum A in the part file.

It's getting very annoying and I can't figure out why this problem has started up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Not sure if it's a good solution, but I just realized I can add the primary datums to a layer and hide the layer so that they don't disappear from my drawing files.

RE: Problem Hiding Datum Planes

That's the way to do it...

RE: Problem Hiding Datum Planes

THere is a drawing config option in drawing setup file

draw_layer_overrides_model yes

indrawing right click blank area  properties-drawing options

thanks gerald,

what I didn't mention is that our IT guys reinstalled Pro/e on my machine and I forgot to save my config files before they did this...

anyway, got all my config options back.  just takes a while to remember all the options since I don't use them very often.

guess i'll remember to keep a back up of my config and template files from now on.

RE: Problem Hiding Datum Planes

I keep a copy of my configs on a floppy disk. That way I always have them, even if the computer crashed big time, or I end up at a different company altogether.

RE: Problem Hiding Datum Planes

It's always a good idea to keep I.T. as far away from CAD program installs they usually just know how to double click setup.exe files and don't have problems upgrading IE to the latest version which many times screws over CAD systems. As for the config.pro and config.win and other settings files make a folder called _settings or some other catchy and easy to find title and also keep a Draft message in Yahoo or Google Mail called ProE configs and just attach the <500k files to that draft message for easy access and distribution.

I've also posted mine to forums including this one so I can always track down a post and get them back.

Michael
