Environmental Engineering Masters

Environmental Engineering Masters

(OP)
I am civil engineer (7 years exp.) with a PE.  I work for a design firm that does mainly retail developments (storm sewer, grading, etc.).  I'm getting into management more and find that i do have a talent for it to a degree.  I have writing skills, can conduct meetings, and other skills beyond engineering.  Problem is two fold:

1.  Not sure i want to move up here because i find the nature of our work to be very boring and tedious at times.

2.  i hate being at a desk 40 hours a week.  I have done limited field engineering which i have enjoyed but the hours with construction can get a little excessive in my experience.

My thinking is possibly going back to get a masters in Environmental Engineering.  My hope is that this will open up some opportunities in more interesting types of work and possibly give me a more even split between field and office work.  any input by someone who has this degree would be appreciated.  or anyone that can shed some light on the finding a career in engineering where you're not behind a desk all day would be appreciated. Thanks.
