lifting/tailing calculation

(OP)
hi

is there any standard procedure for lifting/tailing lug calculations?
for example what are the coefficients for the forces projction on X-Y cordination or what is the coefficient for bending stress due to horizontal projected force?

thanks

RE: lifting/tailing calculation

there are some split sheets for performing lifting lug calculation. mostly in .XLS type.

RE: lifting/tailing calculation

Hi!

Almost all calculations I have seen are based on Pressure Vessel Design Manual by Denis Moss. If you can manage to get a copy a simple method is shown for calculating loads during erection on lifting/tailing lugs and for sizing welds, pin holes, etc.

"Non-flammable" is not a challenge

Dear Inflames

I have Dennis Moss book (second edition). In this book there is a toppic for designing of Lug "SUPPORT" but i could not find anything related to "LIFTING" lug calculation.

thank you for your kind attention

RE: lifting/tailing calculation

Arash,

Try third edition, chapter seven deals with erection of pressure vessels, you will found it there.

Sorry about no having mentioned edition before ;)

You could use DIN28086.
