Timber Bollard with hidden connection
Timber Bollard with hidden connection
(OP)
Hi guys,
I have been asked to provide a timber bollard with a concealed connection. I have this typical detail that I am following (attached), the difference is I am using a timber bollard.
I plan on either screwing or chemically fixing a stud into the centre of the bollard and then chemically anchoring that stud to a drilled hole in the concrete slab.
Are there any problems with doing this, such as splitting of the timber bollard or strength issues when load is applied to the bollard.
All comments will be appreciated.
Do anyone have a typical detail they use for this application?

RE: Timber Bollard with hidden connection
The use of the polyurethane plug at the top will prevent 'rusting' from welding a plate over the end. Make sure the material has antiozonators snd UV blocking chemicals.

Other than decorative, the wall thickness will not hold up to any abuse.
