Plate equivalent material

Plate equivalent material

(OP)
I need to know what is plate material equivalent to API-5L-B-DSAW pipe that I have. I have to fabricate funnel from equivalent plate and weld to pipe.

Can any one help me?

RE: Plate equivalent material

You have to read the API 5L specification, to understand that the composition, method of fabrication, etc..is important for selecting the equivalent plate material. First make sure to read carefuly the actual marking on the pipe, provided by the manufacturer. If is not in accordance with the API 5L standard, then you have no hope. Obviously, it also depends on the application, I understand that the application is critical, if you need the plate material to match the pipe material. Otherwise, you could use a wire coat hanger to weld them together, it will hold.

RE: Plate equivalent material

A-516 grade 60, 65 or 70 would be compatible for your needs.
