RE: Prices of Local ventilation Exhaust systems

RE: Prices of Local ventilation Exhaust systems

(OP)
I am putting together a cost estimate for a local ventilation exhaust system (telescopic extraction arm) for a welding shop, and was wondering if anyone knew what a ball park price of these systems would cost. I checked with a couple of manufacturers, but they wanted drawings, schedules e.t.c,,, and at this point the project is in its proposal phase. I know this is an open ended question, but if anyone has had experience with cost estimating one of these systems, i would sure appreciate the sharing of information.

Thanks.

RE: RE: Prices of Local ventilation Exhaust systems

The extraction arm is usually an off-the-shelf item. Try Plymovent or Nederman. If there are multiple extraction arms running to a common blower then you need to add in the ductwork costs and the blower cost. For the blower call New York Blower or Twin City Fan or whichever blower manufacturer you typically use. For ductwork and fitting costs try Spiral Manufacturing in Minnesota. If you want (or need) to filter the exhaust air then the filter equipment cost must be added. Here you can call Torit or Farr for a cartridge type filter. Lastly are the installation costs, both electrical and mechanical (including compressed air for the filter unit). If you're not sure what you want aim high with your estimate.
