Hello - Could you all help me with a load cap of a customer supplied stainless steel column - 304 stainless - 4" od -  0.0626 wall thickness - 98" total height - seamless pipe - they had 12" x 12" plates welded to each end - that are 0.25" thick - They want this to replace a load bearing wall - and I want to know total load capacity before buckling. thanks Scott in Savannah

This is a list of specifications.  You will need to refer to some of these.

Basically this is just a metal column, just take the actual strength into account.

Look at these sites, it will give you some idea of how to calculate the buckling load depending on how the ends of the strut are restrained.
You should be working to some structural code or specification which means the calculations at the sites below may not be correct when compared with them.
