Contact Area - why different for both of contact partners?
Contact Area - why different for both of contact partners?
(OP)
Hi,
after I somehow lost my user name here, I am back again:
I am modelling indentation of a rigid indenter into an elastomer surface. I defined the frictionless contacting surfaces as surface-to-surface contact (Explicit). Now the problem is that I get two different areas of contact for both indenter and elastomer respectively.
The difference between the values seems to change significantly with mesh size, but refinement of the mesh for both or either of the surfaces does not really do the job.
Does anyone know how to tackle this problem?
Thank you for helping me.

RE: Contact Area - why different for both of contact partners?
Anybody had probably a similar problem, getting 2 different outputs for the same contact situation?
Any kind of slightest hint is greatly appreciated guys
Thanks a lot!
Phil
