Dear sirs,

We have been informed that under a boiler ASME code you would not be required to rate the water side (sheel on water side) boilers for vacuum ?  I am a process engineer and not familar with boilers so I am looking to back up if this is true?

would you normally not rate a fire tube boiler for vacuum ?
(fired boilers on natural gas)

I find this odd - i'm famailer with waste heat boilers that we always have specifed as vacuum rated but for that duty we are using a hot oil to remove the waste heat from a process.
