Electrical analysis of a machine shop

Electrical analysis of a machine shop

Electrical analysis of a machine shop

(OP)
I am doing a coop term that requires me to do an electrical analysis of a machine shop.  I have been given limited instruction with this project.  I have decided to start with a fault current analysis and continue to a power flow analysis.
I am having problems with collecting the information off the machines in the shop.  The shop is comprised of lathes, drill presses, and various mills such as a CNC machine.  I have inspected the various machinery and their associated nameplates to determine their current draw,HP rating, and voltage rating.  Most of the machines I have inspected have multiple motor such as in a lathe there is a spindle motor as well as a oil pump motor.  Each of these motors have name plates on them specifying the individual motors specs, but I require the overall machines specifications.  There are no wiring diagrams for most of these machines therefore I do not know how the various motors are connected.  Can I assume that the different motors current draws/HP ratings can just be added together to produce the overall ratings of the machine?  Or is there a realistic way to measure these machines while in operation with a multi-meter?
Finally is there any free electrical modeling software available such as CYME or ETAP for doing various analysis?
