Insulation Material for 180oC?

Insulation Material for 180oC?

Insulation Material for 180oC?

(OP)
Hello,

I am in need of an insulation material which has a good surface finish/texture and can be machined. We could possibly use a ceramic that is molded in a crucible, but I am not sure about this either.

The application is like a small oven. The thickness of the insulation from hot side to cold size would be around 20mm. Cold side would ideally be around 40oC, hot side is 180oC.

Have looked at High Temp plastics, ceramics, microporous insulation, but nothing "good and cheap" has come up so far.

I would appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Sean Harris.

RE: Insulation Material for 180oC?

look at Alumina Silicate (aluminum silicate?)
it is easily machined and I think it has good high temperature properties
