RE: can anyone help me how to do program useing UGnx5

Max,
I was able to cut your part in NX6, using CONTOUR_PROFILE.
My guess is that you'll be able to do the same in NX5.
I'll include my part file just in case you have someone who can open it for you.
Let me know if you have any problems.

RE: can anyone help me how to do program useing UGnx5

Max,
I have attached my posted program for you to look at.
I cut this part on a 5 axis horizontal mill, with a table/table configuration.  I used a straight cutter so this will be a 5 axis tool path.
I will create another post to this thread that I will try to attach an AVI movie to.  It will show you the simulation of this part being cut.  Because this movie runs very slowly I would suggest that you use the fast forward button in the bottom right hand corner to increase it's play back speed.

RE: can anyone help me how to do program useing UGnx5

Max,
I'm not able to attach the AVI movie that I made of your part being cut.  Let me know if you want to get if off of my FTP site and I'll get you the info. that you'll need to download it.

maxpayne0101,

It is considered good form to ask about help when building a postprocessor. It is not considered good form to just ask for a free post processor that folks have spent hours building. Perhaps talk to your NX support person (who you purchased the software through) to assist you with getting a working post. Also, the support website has many down-loadable posts as well.

RE: can anyone help me how to do program useing UGnx5

Max,
I'm new to post building, so it wasn't a post of mine that I used on your part.  The post was written in Post Builder by a guy that I know who let me use it for this occasion.  He writes and sells posts to machine shops that lack the ability to do this work for themselves.  I'm sorry that I don't have the post to give, the best that I can do is to put your company and this gentleman in contact with each other.  Let me know if your company is ever interested in talking with this guy and I'll get you his contact info.

RE: can anyone help me how to do program useing UGnx5

Just post it with the generic 5-axis post included with UG. Should work fine.

Plus, The original post asked to machine the slot using "4 axis" and then further clarified "I want keep X axis constant.. I would like to turn "B" axis"

This will not be possible on this part. If you cut the floor, the walls will be gouged.
And the opposite is also true, if you cut the walls, the floor will be gouged. As designed, this is a 5 axis part.
