Exhaust Ventilation Heat Recovery

Exhaust Ventilation Heat Recovery

Exhaust Ventilation Heat Recovery

(OP)
We are commencing a project to reclaim heat from various areas in a hospital. Airflows on the supply and exhaust side range from 20,000 cfm to 50,000 cfm.
We have a glycol-filled heat extraction coil in the exhaust stream connected to a heat recovery coil in the supply airstream.

I can easily manipulate fluid flows in the piping with a balancing valve to maximize heat exchange. What is the best equation to calculate heat transfer based on various outdoor air temperatures?

Should I wait until after the summer months and measure again in the fall to achieve ideal heat extraction for the final report?

Thanks,

Tom

RE: Exhaust Ventilation Heat Recovery

CFM X 1.085 X (T inside - T outside) = btu/hr

You will have to know both temperatures.

thx to willard3...your input to this forum is usually very informative...

is there a correction for standard air (1.08)or should I just use the gas law...
