lwk file...how to export?

lwk file...how to export?

(OP)
Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to export a lwk file?  i see the import from HQ image, but i would like to save settings for custom materials & lights that i can import to new files.  I'm currently running NX5. The help files really only specify imports, but did mention that lwk's were 'created from previous revisions'.

Thanks

RE: lwk file...how to export?

OK, I assume you mean that after you've assigned certain materials to your model and then you've made changes to those materials using the Edit options the Materials/Textures dialog, that you would like to 'export' those settings so that they can be reused again in another part file, correct?

If this is the case, your best approach is that after you've made your changes and accepted them by hitting OK or Apply from the editor, return to the editor for that material and select the 'Information' icon in the top right corner of the Material Editor dialog.  When the listing display comes up go to...

File -> Save As...

...and save it with .lwk file extension.  Now repeat this for the other customized materials or textures in the part file except rather then doing a Save As do a Copy & Paste into the newly defined .lwk file.  Once you've collected all of the materials and textures that you wish to reuse, just save the file, open you new part file, go the High Quality Image dialog and import the .lwk file selecting the one which you created as described above.
