I'm looking for drawings/dimensions of the foundation bolt plan for small marine diesel engines (Volvo-Penta, Yanmar, etc), plus the dimensions of the interface flange between the rear end of the engine and the upper gearbox housing for the rear stern drive unit. Will also need dimensions of the engine output shaft.

Basically, I'm looking for the design data to allow me to design a bolt-in replacement engine to replace the existing engine while leaving the existing stern drive unit in place.

RE: Saildrive engine mount dimensions

Engine dealers can provide this information.

It might be worth a try. I'm contemplating replacing the engine with something else entirely, so they may not be so helpful. ;)

RE: Saildrive engine mount dimensions

You don't have to tell them that.
Just tell them you're considering one of their engine models for your boat, and you need cad files or drawings or whatever of the various interfaces, to see if it will fit, and performance curves to see if it will work to your satisfaction.

So they copy a few files from a DVD they get from the engine mfgr.  It's not a big investment of their time.
