Exposed interior duct anti condensation coating

(OP)
Hi Folks,

I've got a decent amount of exposed galv duct runs going into a conditioned space (large open warehouse) in upper eastern USA.  Plan now is to insulate the supply runs. I'm wondering if we really need to insulate given the fact that the space will be fully conditioned and the entrances/exits to the outside will be separated from the warehouse proper.  I would think that the outer surface temp should stay above dewpoint (Coil LAT at design would will be approx 50DB/50WB, unit leaving would be 53DB/50WB allowing for some fan heat).  Maybe some sort of anti-condensation coating to increase the emissivity so as to gain max radiation heat flux from the surrounding area and keep outer surface temp as high as possible?

RE: Exposed interior duct anti condensation coating

Do you expect the conditioned warehouse dew point to stay below 50?

RE: Exposed interior duct anti condensation coating

if you do not insulate it, eventually it will rain inside

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.

RE: Exposed interior duct anti condensation coating

i would have to agree with abby. trying to keep the outer temperature as high as possible isnt going to matter if your wet bulb temp is above 50, and unless you are in the desert, that could be difficult. (or have some good dehumidification equipment.)
