Plotting displacement for a 3D body

Plotting displacement for a 3D body

Plotting displacement for a 3D body

(OP)
Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to plot x-y-z displacement for one coordinate of a 3D body (e.g. centroid).  If yes, can the coordinate be inputted instead of visually selected?

Thanks for any help,
max

RE: Plotting displacement for a 3D body

There might be a better way but I would section the solid geometry with planes so that there was a point in the sectioned geometry at the CG.  I would then put the point in a group for ease of selection after the analysis or output into the DAT file.  I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Rob.  I was thinking I could create node sets for the CG's and then use a history output request to obtain the necessary data.

In terms of editing the inp. file to create new sets, is it possible to identify the node-of-interest with x-y-z coordinates or does is it have to be the node number? If only node numbers can be used, how do I correlate that to my CG coordinate?

Thanks,
max
