Linked exterior

Linked exterior

(OP)
Hi,

In a large assembly I've made a linked exterior from a few subassemblies. Initially I thought it worked great. I could even place mating conditions on these faces, very nice. But then I wanted to edit another, fully loaded, part. After I changed it NX tried to update the assembly and gave many errors on the linked exterior faces. It said that I had to fully load the original component to update. But why? If so, the benefit of the feature is gone.
It shouldn't try to update the linked faces. Is there a way to do this?

Michel

I use NX5.

RE: Linked exterior

I had problems with Linked Exteriors updating in NX 5 as well.  I was told by GTAC the problem was fixed in NX6 and no fix in sight for NX 5
