Altivar 61 command+application=confusion

Altivar 61 command+application=confusion

I have a Altivar 61 vfd that gets its speed reference and run signal from a plc. That is working great.
What I would like to do is add a contact that would give a second digital input to the vfd "hand" and when in hand the speed reference would come from the vfd hmi. Switch in hand =drive runs and speed reference from vfd hmi.

RE: Altivar 61 command+application=confusion

I think the grahphical key pad has one of the Function Keys (F4 I think) as the "Local/Remote" command. You need to find the command source going to this F4 button and route it to a DIN.
I tried reading the ATV61 manual to found out how but gave up after a while, too confusing. On a positive note, it made me realise how user friendly our own manuals are...

Amen to that brother! I once tried to set up a PID loop on an AV71 (the CT version of that drive) and used up 600 minutes of my cell phone time with their tech support line. Nobody there could figure out how to do it either. And it's not as though  don't know what I'm doing, I yanked that drive out and replaced it with a competitive product that I had never seen before and got their PID loop to work in 10 minutes. That manual was abysmal.

RE: Altivar 61 command+application=confusion

Alvitar is a piece of junk.  One of our cheap customers likes them (price).

Had a factory rep come and show us the unit and he was confused.  What a waste of time, never get that one back.

But if you look at the VFD parameter set, it looks like something that was done 20 years ago with the alpha numeric type format.  It is totally confusing also.

Yea the manuals for this product line stink.

If I call tech support tomorrow at least I know I won't be talking to anyone on this forum.
Thanks for the replies. Misery loves company.
