Solid Edge Assembly Units

Solid Edge Assembly Units

Solid Edge Assembly Units

(OP)
Hello I just started using Solid Edge version 18, yes I'm aware it is out of date.  I was just wondering when you start a assembly in metric(MM) everything is in metric units, the parts, inquiry results, mass properties etc...  Now if you edit a part in the metric assembly it will open that part in imperial units.  Is there anyway of changing this?  As the parts being modified in the assembly need to be in metric units not imperial.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jerry A.

RE: Solid Edge Assembly Units

Hi Jerry,

You can change the units by doing the following:

1.  Go to the properties (file/properties) of the part in question and pick the units tab.  Change them to mm

2.  Go to the tools/options and in the dialogue box find the dimensions tab and change the units to ISO.  This should change over to metric.

Hello

Thanks but I have already taken the first step.  Now the second step was already set to ISO, but I changed it to ASNI(MM) to try it out but again when I edit the component it changes to ANSI(INCHES).  Very weird.

Thanks

RE: Solid Edge Assembly Units

As I recal there was an issue in V18 that when entering dimensions for assy constraints they would always display in mm, even in an inch assy.  You'd type in 1" but it would display as 25.4.

Not sure this is quite the same issue.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of FAQ731-376: Eng-Tips.com Forum Policies recently, or taken a look at posting policies: http://eng-tips.com/market.cfm?
What is Engineering anyway: FAQ1088-1484: In layman terms, what is "engineering"?

Has anyone else experienced this issue or is it just me?  Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jerry A.
