As part of a project I am analysing the flow patterns of a river and how they change with three variables: time, depth and distance downstream.

Are there any papers that deal with a similar problem? Or anywhere I could find background information on this topic?

I'm having quite a bit of difficulty finding relevant stuff.

Most on-line info ignore X-section dimensions and published dated shown in cfs flows only.  Some my give data allowing some gradient calcs to be made.
