Does anyone know what is the recommended/Maximum Pulling Tension limits for pulling Concentric neutral, Jacketed, TRXLPE underground cables through conduits? The Underground primary cables are for medium voltages 5kV to 35 kV. In particular, I would like to know the recommended maximum pulling tension limits when pulling one, two, three, four, and parallel TRXLPE, Concentric neutral, Jacketed underground cables? Similarly, I am interested in the maximum pulling tensions for underground 600 volt cables with XLPE Insulation.

RE: Pulling Tension Limits for Fulling Grips

The maximum tension is limited by the cable material, method of attachment of the pulling means, and type and configuration of the raceway. If bends are involved the conduit sidewall pressure may be your limiting factor. There have been several threads here recently on this subject. Some cable manufacturers have helpful installation guides and there are software packages available for these calculations.

Can anyone provide references to information from IEEE or ICC standards which can be helpful to the current methods on how to pull underground cables. In particular, Pulling Underground Cables with Grips attached to the insulation of the cables.
