TRAILER PARK--REQUIRED SPRINKLERS

TRAILER PARK--REQUIRED SPRINKLERS

TRAILER PARK--REQUIRED SPRINKLERS

(OP)
I'm a civil-site working on a proposed trailer park. I remember reading somewhere af few months ago that NFPA made a decision regarding new residential construction and that such construction shall provide sprinklers.

Do new single unit, single story trailers need sprinklers?

RE: TRAILER PARK--REQUIRED SPRINKLERS

Nope. Mobile home construction (ok, technically termed manufactured housing) is outside the scope of the IBC. The construction of manufactured housing is regulated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Manufacturers only must comply with the Federal law for the construction of the manufactured home.

For site planning purposes you would still need to comply with the local fire code for the purposes of fire department access and water supplies.
