Small pressure vessel PED ?
Small pressure vessel PED ?
(OP)
I am wondering if I have misinterpreted the standards.
I have some small water knock-out vessels that I am designing for an H2 generator product. Although it is somewhat ambiguous in looking at the ASME and PED codes if I stay lower than 1 liter in volume, and/or 6 " in ID pipe and/or less than 25 Bar-Liters...I believe I can "Self Declare" on the CE for my product? However...
I need to go slightly bigger (2 to 3 liters and ~ 30-60 bar-g).
I have talked to people at Hartford Steam Boiler which led me to some other vendors here in the US that do PED work. ALL do not do ANYTHING like the little non-welded vessels I need.
Since I have been unable to find any "practical experts" on what a 3 liter non-welded 30 barg vessel would cost or what I would need to do to declare conformity...I am wondering if I have misinterpreted the standards.
Suggestions...Comments...???
Thanks

RE: Small pressure vessel PED ?
RE: Small pressure vessel PED ?
Firstly, why do you need PED? Is it going into the EU?
Secondly, it would fall under a vessel (the 6" diameter is irrelevant for the PED) and so would be assessed using Tables 1 through 4 depending on the fluid.
Go to htt
From a quick look at 3L and 60 Bar G then a Group 1 or 2 Gas requires CE marking where as a Group 1 or 2 Liquid falls under SEP and cannot be CE marked.
A Group 1 Gas would require Category II assessment while a Group 2 Gas requires Category I assessment.
( Don't take these assessments as written in stone, I might have made a mistake ;o) )

My vessel is going in a product that will be deployed world wide; especially in the EU.
Fawkes. I am looking for someone (in U.S. or the E.U) to quote on such a vessel. Even though you are not promoting, selling or recruiting...could you recommend a supplier...??? ;o)
Any advice would be appreciated.
