modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

(OP)
I want to control parameters from a modeling spreadsheet.
When I update the expressions from spreadsheet, the hole feature becomes a feature alert. Looking at the hole feature parameters from edit parameters the wrong values are shown...
what went wrong ??? I attached the file...
thx in ad

RE: modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

How did you save this part file?  I can open it in NX 6.0 but I can't open the spreadsheet.

... Tools spreadsheets,
and Office / Excel 2007
-Excel 2007 the problem?

RE: modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

OK, the problem was on my end as I had not yet updated to MS Office 2007 and NX will not allow downward conversion of the spreadsheet data.  I've since updated (should have done it a few months ago, but...) and now it works.

Now as to your problem, you're going to kick yourself when I tell you what it was.

When you created the spreadsheet and filled out the columns for the Thread Size and the Thread Standard, you did not include the 'spaces' in the names.  The system was just telling you that it failed to find the corresponding items because a) the spreadsheet update was asking the system to look for a Thread Size of "M20x2.5" when it should have been "M20 x 2.5" and b) it was looking for a Thread Standard of "MetricCoarse" when it should have been "Metric Coarse".

The simple things are always the hardest to find

thank you John,
for your advice, for myself I haven't a lot exprience in using spreadsheets . I thaught that this is the problem. But what must I do that when I'm extract expression from model to get the right results, that the values are correct? Is there a setting in spreadsheet or in NX ?

RE: modeling spreadsheet and hole feature

Yes, it appears to be a bug since if I edit the values, adding the spaces, the spreadsheet works correctly.  I will open a PR and let you know when it's fixed.
