Passivation of large item - supplier needed

Passivation of large item - supplier needed

I have a cylinder in UNS S31803, approx 33.5" O/D, 25" I/D, 18" long, weighing about 840kg. There is a requirement to have it passivated in accordance with ASTM A380 section A2.

Can anybody suggest a UK supplier who might be able to do the work?

Thanks.

RE: Passivation of large item - supplier needed

Find someone that does pharma fabrication.  I'll look in my notes when I get back to the office.  There are a few.

No guarantees but you might want to contact Porstmouth Aviation (google should find it), they have a reasonable treatment facility and do some fairly large stuff though I don't remember them passivating anything that big when I was there.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of FAQ731-376: Eng-Tips.com Forum Policies recently, or taken a look at posting policies: http://eng-tips.com/market.cfm?
What is Engineering anyway: FAQ1088-1484: In layman terms, what is "engineering"?

Kenat,

I tried Portsmouth Aviation, who can do the size but not the weight. The same was true of a number of others, but I eventually found Anopol. I'm now waiting hopefully for a quote to come back.
