"...Brilliant! Your site is great...and saving me hours of time at work and making my boss think I am brilliant too! I also picked up on a thread that will potentially save us a lot of money in the future..."
This should be simple to someone. I cannot get my old SiS 530 to show more than 16 colors or change resolution to 600x800 or higher. Tried reinstalling drivers and downloading new drivers all to no avail. Easy answer... Buy a new processor! But for now, I need to make this thing work. Someone please help! Thanks!
I had the very same issue that you had while working on a client's computer with the SIS 530 video card built onto the motherboard. It turned out that I did have the correct driver and directx. However, the monitor driver was not set to use a Plug and Play monitor. If anybody is having this issue, check your hardware settings to see which driver your monitor is using. Once I switched to the plug and play driver for Windows98, I was able to change the screen settings to well over 800x600.
This was such a headache for me, I know it will help somebody else in the future.
