Hi

I have a FEM of an ultracapacitor pack. how do i determine the C.o.g of the assembly?

Thanks
Prasanna

RE: Center of gravity

run the model with 1g inertia load to create a moment along the cg co-ordinate you want; ie, apply 1g in the x direction, calc sumMy of the reactions to determine the z co-ord and sumMz for the y co-ord

RE: Center of gravity

Hi

What software do you use?

In some of them you can simply check "Mass properties" and get COG. Doesn't require any analysis at all.

Thomas

Thanks 'rb1957' & 'ThomasH'

@ThomasH - am using catia for modelling, Hyperworks 9.0 and Ls Dyna 9.71

RE: Center of gravity

Catia does this easily with the 'Measure Inertia' button!

@thomasdw & Thomash - Thanks..I found it both in catia and  Hypermesh (btw HM was easier as I had already input the mtrl properties)
