Simple (I'm sure) importing of .pdf image into SolidWorks

(OP)
I've searched FAQs and all topics in the SolidWorks forum, but can't find my answer:  I import my saved *.pdf, or *.bmp, or whatever into my SolidWorks drawing file, but the image resolution comes through very poor - though it's fine in whatever program I'm working in.  I've been to Tools --> Options --> Document Properties.  Etc. Etc.

(I'm missing something obvious.)
