Can I cut with projected curve?

Can I cut with projected curve?

Can I cut with projected curve?

(OP)
I am trying to cut a step into a part using projected curves.  Solidworks doesn't let let me, so I must not know what I am doing or it's not possible.
Anyways, if there's another way of doing it, besides sweeping, I would appreciate the help.
I attached a jpeg file but not sure how it shows up.

Thanks.

RE: Can I cut with projected curve?

I think that you can extrude your sketch into a surface and cut your solid with the surface with the split command.  I hope this helps.
