1. Are Roark's formules as designformules for the roof support/crown construction of a storage tank acc to API 650 the only formules accepted or is the ENV 1993-1-1 also an acceptable methode?.
2. Does the EN 14015 accept the Roarks formules as designformules for the roof support/crown construction of a storage tank acc to EN 14015

Kind regrds

RE: Stres formules roof support construction

Per API: All parts of the roof structure shall be proportioned so that the sum of the maximum static and dynamic stresses shall not exceed the liitations specified in the AISC Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings or with the agreement of the purchasre an equivalent structural design code recognized by the government of the country where the tank is located.

RE: Stres formules roof support construction

Note that API does not "accept" any particular method of analysis for the roof structure, and it is up to the designer to use good engineering practice in the design.

Does Roark have anything specifically for tank roofs, or is this just the flat-plate formulas you're referring to?

JStephen,

I'm not familair with the formula's but I saw only Roark's formulas mentioned in a calculation. The were not completely write out just the outcome.

RE: Stres formules roof support construction

The Roark reference is to Roark's "Formulas for Stress and Strain", which covers a very wide range of applications.  Quite likely, the reference was to the circular plate formulas which are included there.  Those formulas are just one means of analyzing a structure, and other methods could be used as well.  API doesn't specify how the analysis is to be done.
