Sheet Metal Mitered Corners

Sheet Metal Mitered Corners

Sheet Metal Mitered Corners

(OP)
Hi,
I'm new to NX and I need to model several parts that have mitered 45 corners in sheetmetal (like a control panel door). Can anyone tell me if there is a reasonable way to accomplish this?
Thanks.

I'm using NX 5 but I think I have someone who can walk me through the process (that understands UG better than me). Thanks for replying though.

Well, designlady, you may have someone who understands NX better than you, but no one understands NX better than John.

You mean like this...

Use the Contour Flange feature which will allow you to sketch the profile shape of the flange and select the 'Chain Extent' Width Option and in the 'Miter' section just toggle the 'Miter Corners' option ON.

I've attached the file for you to review how I created it (just double-click on the Flange feature.

RE: Sheet Metal Mitered Corners

John,
Thanks for the information on this, I'm the "someone who can walk me through the process (that understands UG better than me)" and have just started working with designlady a couple of days ago.
We're still ironing out the kinks here and will be applying your solution this afternoon. I took my UG training in Australia back in 2003 and have to get up to speed on NX as it is now and especially the sheetmetal stuff that wasn't covered in my Practical and Design Apps courses.

Thanks again for your time!
