GOST

GOST

(OP)
Anybody has any experience with Russian GOST? We make ASME
Section VIII Div.1 tanks. Do we need to be certified for GOST?

RE: GOST

HABER,
I hope some of our Russian posters would come up with details of the pressure vessels fabrication / import, but until then I can offer some ideas;-
1. ASME is the design code for pressure vessels, not storage tanks.
2. GOST is the Russian collection of standards, thousands of them. There is a number of Russian codes/standards called GOST and SNIPS referring to the design and fabrication of pressure vessels. Please note that ASME VIII is also a basic code, but there are numerous other standards applicable in conjunction with ASME VIII.
3. Yes, there is an extensive collection of Russian regulations pertinent to:- import of equipment fabricated outside of Russia, equipment fabricated in Russia based on foreign standards, equipment fabricated outside of Russia based on Russian standards, etc...There are specialized Russian agencies who provide the procedures, paper work and the subsequent approvals. There are also many fabricators outside of Russia who have obtained full accreditation and they don't need renewal unless special circumstances occur.
Cheers,

RE: GOST

I have some information re. our approving for gost.
This is from our last approving for Russia.
-------
Just to systemize the GOST-R certification issue:
Normally , there are 3 types of certificates that mayby require for the vessels/plants that exported to Russia :
     a) . GOST-R - (certificate of correspondence)  mainly requires for customs purposes and therefore only needs once the equipment proceeds custom clearance. Normally is this paper organized once the equipment is dispatched or at least packed
and we know exactly, how many collies is packed. That is for making individual GOST-R
     b)   Hygenik (or sanitary-epidemiological resolution) as GOST-R requires by customs, but only sometimes (do not ask me when and why? This algorithm of Russian customs is completely out my understanding  smile .
      c) RTN-permit  a cerificate paper that allows to use equipment in Russia , it requires by
authorities (ROSTEKHNADZOR - Russian  technical supervisor committee). Certain equipment is being considered as potentionaly dangerous or hazardous (pressure vessels, ammonia equipment ,neutral  gas equipment etc.)

I hope this gives a better understanding
