I wonder why in car industries material for CV Boots was changed from nitryle to chloroprene rubber. Would you like to give me the answer?
Thanks in advance
Gregor

RE: Material of the CV Boots nitryle or chloroplene

I can't help with this one really. I suppose it's down to cost and low temperature performance. I've seen CV boots made from NBR, CR, SBR and EPDM in recent times, especially for the automotive replacement markets.

GrahamBennett, thanks for the answer.
You are absolutely right with the low temp performance - I've just checked it in the table. But I am curious if it is the only (together with the cost) parameter which allow using CR instead of nitryle rubber.

According to my information CR has far better flame resistance - it is self-extinguishing. Other than that and the low temp performance there seems to be little to choose between them.
